About World Food Programme (WFP)
The World Food Programme (WFP) is the food assistance branch of the United Nations and the world's largest humanitarian organization addressing hunger and promoting food security. Founded in 1961, WFP provides food assistance to an average of 100+ million people annually across 80+ countries. Operating a fleet of 5,600 trucks, 30 ships, and 100 aircraft, WFP delivers lifesaving food to the world's most remote and dangerous locations. The organization focuses on emergency response, school feeding programs, nutrition initiatives, smallholder farmer support, and resilience building. WFP was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2020 for its efforts to combat hunger and its contribution to peace in conflict-affected areas.
